busy and booked.

blogging? yikes.
too busy reading lately to blog.
reading, reading, reading.
hours at barnes & noble.
it's my second home.
knowledge is incredible.

isn't it crazy to think that a person will never be able to read enough books in their lifetime?
it's overwhelming- when i walk into barnes & noble and realize i'll never be able to read such amazing works, words and thoughts. it's somewhat saddening.

lovebird has been far too busy spending
hours and hours and hours homework-ing.
when he's not studying, he busy hanging out
and sleeping in with me.
which rarely happens, but when it does it's a real treat.

we love fall, reading, school and business.
the blog will continue to live on when i find a spare minute or two.

today in 5

1. considering how busy we are at dance right now- it was a complete shock i didn't have rehearsal today. pure luck, if you ask me. so instead...? i got took my car into the shop for a quick check up, had a delicious pita sandwich for lunch with lovebird and made these yummy cookies.... (yes, those are pumpkin hershey kisses.  delicious.)

a special thanks to the lovely blog i got the recipe from.
they are tasty and lovebird loves them.

2. tonight i went to the general RS meeting. it was a pure delight. always so beneficial and inspiring. the words of the prophet tonight were simple and pure... "judge not". yet, how sad we live in a world where those two words sometimes seems as an impossible task. if for some reason you didn't attend- you truly missed out. so click here now.

3. lovebird has been doing homework nonstop today. literally. sincerely wish i could take a load of his shoulders. the weight of his homework load seems to be a little to much this weekend. him busily doing homework leads me to being "alone"... so i read my book, baked and snuck a diet coke. completely feeling guilty and relaxed.

4.  thought and quote of the day...

too often i find myself saying "i don't have time".
the quote solves that problem.

5. i'm getting anxious for the month of october. october equals fall in my books. i love halloween- the spook in the air. how excited i am to slowly collect items to decorate my home like my mother's; full of halloween gadgets, quilts and pumpkins from ceiling to floor. i bought my first few decorations today- yay! let the collection begin.

friday!

it's friday.
finally. however, this week seemed
to have gone by quickly.

friday is my cleaning day.
friday is my "go into dance early" day
friday is the day i'm a personal shopper for someone
friday is my "stay up late night" with lovebird
friday is my fun day.
friday is a weekend day.
friday is usually full of laughter and happy moods.
friday is simply friday, and
thank goodness it's today.

what are you doing on this lovely friday?

p.s. i'm buying the yummy supplies to make a delicious fall treat.
stay tuned tomorrow- i'll let you know how they turn out.
maybe even share the recipe if you want it.
"peace & blessings"

fear

one of my biggest fears.
has been forever.

every single night this is a part
of our nightly routine...

"hey lovebird..?
if i die before i wake, three words i wish
to tell you before dawn's break...
i love you."

ouch!

while being a little housewife, i somehow managed to
burn
the heck our of my finger.

yup. ouch.
watched it blister right before my eyes.
spent the night icing it.
tried sleeping thru the throbbing, but that didn't work.

so warning:
when cooking asparagus, be careful of the steam.
it's out to getcha.

on a lighter note..
dinner was delicious.
whole wheat spaghetti with a homemade sauce.
a french baguette
and extremely hot aspargus.
yum.

look closely.
see that bump right below my fingernail?
killer pain.
how could something so small hurt so bad?
as well as the other blister right below it
that you can't see in this picture.

eagle

the post is by demand. brace yourselves.
i know you would all love it if i were to explain my love, passion and thrill
about this dear painting of ours... but, i seem to be drawing a blank.
so instead, below are the testimonies of love from the ones who appreciate and worship this eagle.

this ugly  lovely piece of art hangs on one of the walls of our sweet home.
not by my choice... but rather by threat and command.
i was told i'd lose dear friendships if this painting didn't hang in plain view.
so... here you have it- a picture showing evidence of my true love for this art.
did i mention it was a white elephant gift? it truly holds great value, right?

and let me get one thing straight- i am not denying the brilliance of an eagle-
and all that he stands for. i'm just not the happiest camper about hanging this particular piece.
i mean come on guys... it's painted on three pieces of wood that our crookedly nailed together.

"I know a lot of people have been wondering about the eagle painting. maybe post some pics of it hanging in your new home and write a short blurb about what the painting means to you." -Swamp

"I for one would appreciate a little piece of mind. i have actually lost sleep over the eagle." -Bill

"Never has a single piece of art had such a profound affect on my patriotism to our country. It would almost be, if I dare say, un-American if it does not currently grace the walls of your home. A picture of the art on the wall would be great to revive my spirits and my conviction of knowing I live in the land of the free. Thank you Elease." -Mills

"An eagle is characterized with speed, strength, power, majesty, boldness, dependability, courage, great vision, singleness of purpose, tenderness, faithfulness and ferocity. They are without a doubt the most regal creature in all the animalkingdom. Most birds just fly but eagles soar. And to top it all off they are monogamous. There is no greater standard of excellence to model your marriage after. I think the Eagle should take its rightful place in the center of your hearts, minds, and home. It should be placed above the mantel in your living room as a constant reminder of your potential to soar. Thank you Elease." -Ballsteen (stiche said that was your only nickname)

"Some say that the lion is the king of the jungle. While that may be true I attest that the king of all animals happens to be the majestic eagle. Why you might ask. The eagle isn't just any creature. while most creeping things are vulnerable, the eagle happens to be untouchable. It soars high in the sky and flaps it's powerful wings to the beat of its own drum. It cannot be challenged. It cannot be threatened. It is, without equivocation, the most dominant create on the face of the planet save the human race. It is even written in the words of the old testament, "they shall mount up with wings as eagles" Isa 40:31. One things is certain, if I receive excellent grades this semester it's not because I worked hard. It's because that eagle painting is hanging above me as I study each day. It is a constant reminder of excellence and courage. Thank you eagle for watching over me." -Lovebird

these are actual quotes. sincere to the core.
lovebird has amazingly passionate friends.
and now surely there is proof to the eagle in our home.
i bet you are all thrilled that i finally got around to posting this.
we miss you all dearly.
come visit soon.
the eagle awaits your arrival.

long lines

fail: line at the DMV was out the door and around the block. literally. looks like i'll be waking up at the crack of dawn to be the first in line one day soon.

while on the topic? should i get a california license? this will state that i am a california resident... what do you think? i've lived here for almost four years now... however, i'm just not quite sure if i'm ready to give up my salt lake residency. i'm a weirdo, i know.

but, hence the long line and wait at the DMV... lovebird took me shopping instead. awesome trade, right? what a sweetheart.
he's quite the little shopper. we ended our adventure with a frozen yogurt. it was a delightful day.

create

be creative.
life is better when you are creative.
create dinners, dates, movement, crafts, friendships, memories,
dreams, families, inside jokes and so much more.
luckily, we are a creative couple.
life is more exciting because of it.

groceries

note to self: don't do a big grocery run when lovebird is at school.
carrying grocery's up a flight of stairs is not fun.
my twig arms (as he would call them) aren't strong enough.
when it comes to groceries, living on the second floor
is the only downfall to living in our lovely home.

another note to self: never go shopping when you are hungry.
the list magically gets longer and longer. oops!

however, i picked up my favorite snacks today...
wheat tortillas. great with peanut butter, apples and honey.
honey crisp apples. california's greatest product. sorry non-residents.
laughing cow cheese. awesome with melba crackers. yum.
luna bars. simply a delightful "power bar" for the dancer  in me.
celery sticks. 0 cal. crisp, yummy, filling. add pb&j and raisins.
honey twist pretzels. perfect combination of sweet and salty. healthy too.

i suggest you try them all!
oh, and make sure your hubby is home to carry in the load of groceries.

secrets

lovebird doesn't know it, but....

we are going to start traveling the world tomorrow.
italy is first on the list. then bulgaria.
{i want to eat gelato and be a gypsy}

we are getting a dog. puppy please.
{he wants a bulldog.... any takers?}

we are headed to san fran soon to look at something sparkly.
{one can dream, right?}

we are finding an antique bench for our balcony.
{not to mention my favorite accessory: tons of pillow.}

we are getting fat. diet starts today.
i'm not baking yummy treats, at least for a while.
{well, i suppose he already knows that}

we are moving to new york.
grad school, baby! cross your fingers.
{i left my heart there awhile back.}

those are all my secrets for now.
he'll soon find out.
but, that's a good thing- right?

second saturday

who: the lovebirds
what: "second saturday"
where: sacramento {old sac, downtown}
when: september 11, 2010
why: desperate need of a fun date

sacramento hosts a fun filled night every second saturday of the month.  the streets of downtown come to life with vendors, boutiques, art shows/museums, tons of people, free food, dancing, music and more. the purpose? to boost the economy, advertise companies and to pull together the people of sac.

we decided it was time for an adventure, given the fact i had the day off of dance.
that never happens. we took advantage of that, and raced over to sac.
it was a lovely day and evening.
so much to do, see and say about our night.

best part?
(well one of them, anyway)
I got these adorable shoes for $9 at a vintage clothing store.

love them to pieces.

we shared a gooey peanut butter, nutella and banana crepe.
devoured a delicious fuji salad
and walked until our feet ached.

lovely night, to say the least.
lovebird is a handsome date. sure lucky to have him.

happy sunday

lover's lane

this is where it all began:

{our little fairy tale story}
waking up from a restless night due to nerves, she quickly got ready for the big show. it was her day to be aurora in sleeping beauty. she had worked weeks and weeks correcting, rehearsing, learning and well, stressing. her adoring family members, and two of her best friends had traveled miles by plane and car. even a last minute road trip, through the middle of the night, by brother bret made the crew complete. or did it...? someone vital was missing. she was still hoping that by some miraculous way, her lover would miss his finals and SAT to come watch her perform. that's all she wanted, in fact. it made her sick knowing that he wouldn't be there to watch the performance of her lifetime. she walked into the theater that day with butterflies galore, a prayer in her heart, and to be honest a little disappointment. she hadn't heard from him in what seemed like forever. they hadn't been able to chitchat on the phone, simply because their schedules clashed. a little mad that he didn't call her to wish her "good luck", she turned her phone off and walked out to the stage to begin the day she would never forget. it was time to focus. she recognized that this was a day that would never be able to repeat itself. she had been given the leading role of the ballet, and had one shot at performing it. the show had begun. literally, the longest ballet in ballet history seemed to pass by in the blink of an eye. after dancing her heart out, the curtain fell putting an end to her show. she was completely out of breath, legs aching of exhaustion and the feeling of accomplishment glowed brightly through her eyes. suddenly, her heart stopped. literally. the next five seconds happened in slow motion... her ballet mistress ordered the company not to leave the stage, and shortly after her director came rushing on stage with someone following right behind him. she couldn't believe her eyes. it was him. in a matter of seconds, the outcome of her performance was upstaged by the man of her dreams; and he was about the perform the proposal of her dreams. the dancers naturally set the stage as they formed a circle around the two lovebirds. being the romantic prince that he was, he said all the right words. she was so shaken up with the butterflies leaping around in her stomach that she could hardly look at him. in fact, she seemed to be more nervous and anxious for that very moment in time more so than the duration of the weeks leading up to her performance. before she could grasp the reality of this fantasy, he was down on one knee. a little white bird box carried the perfect ring. with no hesitation, she said yes. she knew that the best part about her, was him. slipping the ring onto her finger, happened all so fast. the diamond sparkled beyond belief. love was in the air. she was swooped off of her blistered toes. she couldn't get enough of him. looks of love, kisses of passion and hugs of infinity were just the beginning. family rushed over to her in a matter of seconds. friends embraced her with hugs, tears of joy and a lots of congratulations. she felt as though she was the luckiest girl in the world. she had her new fiance in her arms, her family full of nothing but love and support, her best friend at her side and her friends radiating with excitement. it truly was a fairy tale. she now is living happily ever after back in utah for the summer; busier than ever planning the wedding of their dreams while spending every possible second with him. love is simply splendid. the end.
well, there you have it.... a fairy tale of my own. the story of my proposal is just the beginning. i am obviously spoiled greatly with love, kisses and a prince charming. he is the best part of me, and what's comforting is that i know that i'm the best part of him. we're made for each other.

i love you babe. thanks for the dream-come-true proposal.
i love you more than life itself.

struck with love

this sums up how i feel right now.
hit in the face with love.
i'm so in love its sick.
yet perfectly overwhelming.

ponder

lovebird is at school. ALL DAY today.
boo.
so, i'm "stuck" here blogging.
my mind has been running around some crazy ideas this morning.
like...

why is it that when i'm all alone in dead silence,
sometimes i experience a complete sense of joy, peace and relaxation.
and yet other times i feel completely
unmotivated, lonely and a tid bit sad?

what makes a chore list never ending?

how do you explain to someone the saying,
"you'll just know he's the one."

why can't food be full of empty calories?

is it just me, or does everyone feel like they are constantly
trying to please a handful of people?

how did i ever become so lucky to marry the
most incredible sweetheart in the world? seriously, though.

the world is beautiful. why do people destroy it?

and has the world always revolved around money?

is it weird that i have an extreme phobia of throwing up?
i'm starting to fear eating out, simply because i fear food poisoning.

quite the list, right?
that's what happens when i get a day off from
the busy life i live.
can't wait tell loverbird gets home,
so we can chitchat about these things.
peace.

welcome!
