h a p p y  b i r t h d a y 

dear crewser:

 i can't believe you are 20. 

you are growing up way to fast, which is perfectly fine for you.

but, for me, it makes me feel old. 

{so please, stop it. or simply slow down.}

you are in another country, which makes it impossible 

for us to celebrate your big day together.

however, let's pretend you lived next door. 

this is how it would go:

1. we'd start the day off with a big chai frappuccino- your favorite.

2. we'd walk home laughing about who knows what- 

because we always laugh about anything and everything when we are together.

or rather, you are always making me laugh. 

3. we'd come home to find midge patiently waiting for us,

 with a pile of presents for you-

because we all know that she loves you the most.

{or at least she does on your birthday.}

4. you'd open your gifts which would include, all things utah and sport oriented,

 a new pair of converse and a rubik's cube.

{or at least those would be the gifts last year's crew would get.}

this year, midge is sending you a few new white shirts, new socks, 

books on the gospel, and giving you money to treat yourself to a new suit.

5. dad would be begging to spend every second with you-

whether that meant sitting on the couch or playing a round of golf.

we all know he loves you too much.

you are his favorite child, no matter what the day is.

6. we'd spend the day doing something fun, crazy and adventurous-

because with you, there is never a dole moment in life. 

7. you'd pick your favorite restaurant to go to for dinner. 

if your taste buds haven't matured too, i'm guessing you'd pick

pizza limone, crown burger or cafe rio.

the brothers would of course make fun of your selection 

in what they'd consider a 'crapy' restaurant.

8. we'd race home for a delicious dessert; probably a big slice of chocolate cake.

not forgetting a big scoop of ice cream.

9. the day would be over just like that;

you'd be 20 and i'd be wishing we could stay this young forever.

10. we'd all go to bed thankful that you are 

the caboose and 'accident' of the family.

because, let's face it crew, you are everyone's favorite. 

then, you know me- i'd sneak into your room and lay on your bed and

"accidentally" fall asleep while we lay there talking about life. 

i'm so glad we are best friends.

even when you are thousands of miles away.

your birthday marks 20 years- 

and i'm hoping it is the happiest birthday you'll have.

and how can i forget that your birthday also means one more thing...

it means your one year mark 

is just around the corner.

i'm beyond excited for that day,

because that day will mark the beginning of my countdown 

to when i get to see you next. 

then, we won't have to do any pretending.

we will celebrate your two birthdays, the two christmas' and all the holidays 

in between that you missed-  the minute you get home.

you may even get a celebration dance from yours truly, 

the second you step off that escalator in the airport. 

actually, i'm guaranteeing a dance.

i'll be that excited.

i can't wait to tell you all about my birthday weekend.

but, and it's a big but....

i have to get through 2 finals first.

total let down, i know.

i hope you had a fabulous weekend.

mine couldn't have been any better.

i've got to turn into a total book worm for the next couple of days.

but after that, i plan on turning into a total blog worm.

i can't wait to catch up on your summer adventures.

five things friday.

five little things before the {big} weekend:

1. remember when i surprised lovebird at work for his birthday?

go check out the genius {and talent} behind the cake pops!

she has an adorable blog full of incredible crafts and the most delicious goodies.

and on top of that, she's one of a kind. i love her dearly.

2. we have a fun trip planned with my best friend and her hubby.

can't wait to meet them "in the middle" at lake tahoe.

say hello to a much needed trip with them, time to just chill, 

and the beauty of such a gorgeous place.

3. i'm so excited to spend my birthday weekend with lovebird.

he has hidden boxes from j.crew, a weekend getaway planned in the city and 

i can already tell he's spoiled me rotten.

why am i so lucky to be married to such a gem?

4. sunshine is the souls best medicine, while

a sunburn is the skin's worst nightmare.

i've experience the love and hate of both this week.

i blame the burning desire to read my book out in the sun. pun intended.

by the way, i finished my book already. loved it.

i'm not going to tell you again- read it now! 

5.a few of my favorite things from this week include:

crisp and clean bed sheets, sally hansen nail strips, a morning date with

my {other} best friend, lovebird's laugh attack, yogurt mill,

the product of a clean house after slave work,

dry shampoo, reading, mac's new russian red lip gloss, and 

complete freedom in the evenings as a result of not having rehearsal.

he's golden.

golden birthday:

a person's birthday when they turn the age of their date of birth.

today is lovebird's golden birthday.

{can i get a woot woot?}

we plan on spending the morning together doing something birthday-ish.

{given the fact we both work/dance from 12-10. lame, right?}

i'm thinking breakfast in bed or an early lunch date...?

one thing is for certain: no matter how late we get home,

we will have a feast of gelato, because that's lovebird's favorite. 

remember this birthday and then this one?

i can't believe he's 26 already.

or the fact that it's been over two years since i met lovebird.

it feels like yesterday when we: 

were giddy in love as we explored our city together.

{san francisco is where we fell madly in love}

 spent our evenings skyping due to our long distance relationship,

took turns hoping on a plane just about every weekend or so to visit each other. 

planned our wedding and indulged in a romantic honeymoon.

moved into our little home, jumped into new schools and jobs and made new friends.

which brings us to now...

lovebird is growing up. 

26 will be a good year- i can feel it in my blood.

big decisions are about to be made.

good thing they say golden birthdays bring a lucky year-

hopefully we'll have luck on our side as we plan our little future. 

26 sounds old, but oh-so young at the same time.

we have a lifetime of love to look forward to.

and that my friends, is what i look forward to most.

the fact that lovebird is mine and will be forever.

i'm excited to celebrate many more birthdays together.

all i know, is winnie the pooh said it best:

"if you live to be one hundred, i want to live to be a hundred minus one day so i never have to live without you."

my "shugg", my better half, my lover, 

my "shorter" half, my companion, my source of laughter,

half of me says you're still a baby. and the other half says you're an old man. 

where has all the time gone?

{you know, when we used to be this big.}

you leave for your mission in exactly 18 days. craaaaazy. 

i'm already panicking over missing you too much, anticipating awesome letters from you,

and expecting you to be a strong cookie out there.

"you're my favorite brother."

{well, at least today you are.}

i love you dearly.

you are my best friend, and will be till' i die. 

i hope you have a happy birthday.

happy birthday to... me.

i was spoiled rotten this year. 

i am so thankful for all of my fun little gifts.

clothes, being with my mom, scones, shoes and more shoes, 

new curling iron, spa days, a bird day planner, makeup, and the list goes on.

however, one of my favorite birthday gifts was "from" my

sweet father-in-law. check it out.... 

he gave me a little chunk of money, and my mind ran wild.

i bought us new patio furniture!

and of course a handful of pillows.

never can have too many pillows. right jim?

it was a great year. and i'm happy to live the next one.

come & gone

this post is way past due. 

but i've got to post about it. 

since time seems to moving too fast lately,

let's hop back to our first easter together...

our fun easter consisted of:

dying eggs, easter baskets and easter trees, eating candy until
our bellies hurt, and

  going over to the miners for a delicious easter dinner. 

what a lovely first easter it was. 

and then... 

lovebird's birthday!

he is officially a quarter of a century old. {yikes!}

 his birthday was nearly perfect.

{minus the fact i had to work all day long.}

he asked for raspberry cheesecake- so he got it. 

along with a massage, skittles, men's health, clothes, flip flops

and money. what a spoiled lucky boy. 

lovebird is happy that we have our own and new easter traditions.

and i am happy lovebird is growing up.

this time of year is always a blast.
