b u s y

life is is full swing right now.
dress rehearsals and performances galore.
one last final today. {thank goodness}
guests arrive in a few days.
christmas is just around the corner.
traveling home for the holidays.
christmas shopping and wrapping on the "to do list'.
and the list goes on...

i'm just trying to keep my head above water right now.
after this final is over, i have a feeling a big weight will be lifted of my shoulders.
i'm waiting for it to feel like christmas-
i don't know if it's because i'm too busy to realize it's just 15 days away,
or maybe it's because i don't live around snow anymore.
but, i'm guessing it's because my mind is purely occupied on nutcracker
and finals that i haven't even begun to have thoughts of christmas festivities.
i'm hoping that all changes in a few hours after i hand in my final.
but, let's be honest- finishing your finals, feels like christmas come early every time.
yahoooo! wish me luck. here i go.
i look forward to jumping on the christmas bandwagon later today.

picture of the week.

this picture sums up this week perfectly:
-there's always time for puppy snuggles, now matter how busy one might be.
-my hair managed to master one hairstyle this week: the effortless and messy topknot.
-no makeup besides a bold lip color is an easy go to look. {this lipstick in "so chaud"}
-wearing glasses is mandatory when you have to stare at text books all day long.
-the puppy mom in me wants to cry, because mowgli is growing up too fast.
-scarfs make everything better, including your outfit.
-our dog is camera shy. proof above, as well as in every other photo we take of him.

i'm hoping you've all had a lovely week.
thank goodness the weekend is here, right?
i plan on rehearsing, studying and preparing for our guests to arrive next week.
i'm certain your plans are far more exciting than mine... so, please share.
cheers to it being friday.
also, cheers to all the cups of eggnog that have gotten me through the week.

cya later.... alligator.

see you later, alligator.
in a while crocodile.

okay, just for a little bit; as in only today.
i've got to study my brains out for an exam tomorrow.
then at by 11 o'clock tomorrow morning-
i'll be as free as a bird.
the thanksgiving holiday will begin it's celebration.
{well sort of- i still have rehearsal until 8. boo!}

utter excitment for a turkey feast,
four days off of dance,
not having to go to school,
black friday shopping,
and spending loads of time with lovebird
is a complete understatement.

first, i've got to get through this test.
so... see you later alligator.
in a while crocodile.

diy nail art above?
it's called being a cheater, and buying sally hansen nail stickers.
so worth every penny- especially, when you find them on clearance.
{i think the crocodile i used above may be discontinued- but they are all fabulous!}

hi-ho, hi-ho it's off to school i go.

the focus is on school this week.
 this semester has finally settled into the full swing of things;
tests are being thrown right and left,
teachers are suddenly in their strict moods,
waking up for class is becoming a bigger chore,
i'm starting to see less and less of lovebird
and the piling up of homework seems to be creating mountains.
life is crazy when in school.
or maybe life is crazy due to trowing school on top of my already
overbooked and busy schedule...?
regardless, school is a happy place for me.
some people are just made for school, and i'm one of those.
lovebird on the other hand- is counting down every last second.
he's a little over school, to put it politely.
that being said, i'm so glad we are both in school-
bettering ourselves, our brains and our futures.
cheers to being students.

if only i could somehow figure out how add an extra
hour in the day for cuddling, instead of doing homework.
then, life would be too good to be true.

being brave.

happy weekend.
i'm off to take my first test of the semester... wish me luck.
then, i'm hoping on a private jet to fly home{salt lake city}.
bucket list item: check.
i'm headed home for a grand total of 24 hours;
just enough time to say hello to my family, eat at a favorite restaurant,
possibly get my hair done and spend the rest of those minutes with my mom.

surprisingly, i'm more nervous for the flight than i am for the test.
so please, wish me more luck for the flight.

i hope you have a lovely weekend!
i'll report back with awesome pictures and a quick tale of
the adventures that happen in the next 24 hours.
until then, i keep telling myself to be brave.

hi-ho, hi-ho, it's back to school i go.

back to school.
back to school i go.
first day of school, which also means the last day of summer.
sure, i'm sad to say goodbye to days by the pool,
bbq dinners, adventures, sunscreen, lazy sunday nights,
free time, staying up late and sleeping in.
but, boy am i ready to say hello to reading, text books, learning and
walking around on campus while enjoying the changing of seasons.
remember being a little kid, so excited for the first day of school?
new outfit, new backpack, new shoes, new teacher....
you are already to go...
until you realize you've been tossing and turning and can't seem to fall asleep-
all due to a little set of nerves that creep up on you.
i hated that feeling as a kid.
but wait, i still kind of get those jitters the night before.
am i the only one?
maybe i haven't grown up yet.
growing up is overrated,
because let's face it, who doesn't love a new outfit for school?
a fresh new backpack? a pair of adorable ballet flats for campus walking?
and meeting those crazy yet genius professors?
i certainly do.
if never growing up, means i always get to go to school,
or learn something new on a daily basis...
count me in.
back to school i go.
happy as can be.

happy first day of school!
cheers to being in school, textbooks, nerves and learning.

summer at last.

school's out! boo-ya, baby!
{picture taken minutes after my final. such a relief to be done}

tuff finals are finally behind me.
summer has officially begun
 and i'm already celebrating accordingly:
i painted my nails this bright color to embrace my happiness.
i went on a little shopping spree at target.
lovebird's least favorite store, for the mere fact that i'm guaranteed to
walk out with more items than initially planned for.  {every.single.time}
worked a little, played a little and danced a little.
my bestest friend and her cute hubby arrive today!
they're coming out to visit for the weekend- we are more than stoked. big plans ahead.
the packing for italy has finally started. slowly, but surely.
 mac lip stick, maxi skirts and messy braids are my favorite summer trends.
give me anything neon right now and i'll love you forever.
favorite summery product: grapefruit all purpose cleaner
{completely shocked that my favorite product at the moment is in the cleaning department, but it is.}
i'm totally eating everything in sight.
in my books, that's the number one sign that's it's summertime.

hope you are embracing, celebrating and rejoicing over summertime.
how can you not?
bring on anything summer. i'm ready for you now.

books before birthday.

{unknown source}
i can't wait to tell you all about my birthday weekend.
but, and it's a big but....
i have to get through 2 finals first.
total let down, i know.
i hope you had a fabulous weekend.
mine couldn't have been any better.
i've got to turn into a total book worm for the next couple of days.
but after that, i plan on turning into a total blog worm.
i can't wait to catch up on your summer adventures.
oh, and thanks to all of you adorable readers who sent me sweet
 birthday wishes via twitter, email and texts!
you made my birthday that much better.

busy being busy.

dear blog:
you can thank my finals for never seeing me.
{and the worst part is, i still have two more.}
you can also thank lovebird-
he has been quite demanding of my time,
now that he knows i have a little extra time to spare.
{obviously, i don't object to this in the slightest.}
i've been as busy as a bee over here.
with dance coming to an end
plus the school semester wrapping up,
things on the busy scale in life have really been amplified.
i'm alive, though.
and for that, i'm thankful.
i'm thankful for performing, testing, stress, lack of time and hardly any sleep-
they all make life exciting in an unexpected way.
that being said, i will definitely be
just a little more thankful when it's all over.....
because lovebird and i have a lovely getaway planned.
one that i can't wait to tell you about.
i promise to be better at posting and writing about our
crazy adventures in life right now.
and to my readers and blogs i love to follow:
i promise i will be back at %100 in the next few days.
i've missed you and your cute blogs dearly.

p.s. if you would be interested in guest posting while lovebird and i
spend time far, far away....
please email me at
thelittlelovebirds.blog@gmail.com
{dates of guest posting will be in june and july}

earth and time.

happy monday.
i hope you had a lovely weekend.
earth day was certainly earthy over here.
we spent our time loving the beautiful weather outside.
of course we had homework, so why not take it outside and do it at a park?
genius idea, i tell you.
we are surrounded by national parks and there's no charge to enjoy them.
{thanks to earth day}
we just may have to take a trip to yosemite.
nothing beats the beauty of that place.

life is hectic right now.
if i could only slow it all down, add an extra hour to the day
or put everything on hold and concentrate on one thing at a time...
now, that's what i call blissful living.
if that were the case, it may actually feel like i am living a real life,
rather than feeling like i am in fast forward motion;
blinking and wondering how i say hello and goodbye
to the same day in a single sentence.

all this to say, i am looking forward for that moment when
life will suddenly slow down.
{it will, won't it?}
for me, it will be at the close of my ballet season and
after the end of the this semester.
{just a few more weeks. i can make it.}
maybe then, will be have time to explore all the beautiful
national parks we live so close to.
and maybe then, will the days feel like they pass me by one by one.

cheers to the start of a new week!
may the days pass slowly enough to enjoy them-
yet quick enough to get through them.
if you know what i mean.
xoxo

"the sun will come out tomorrow."

{nerd alert}

it's thursday already.
this week has been quite lovely all in all.
{minus the fact that lovebird is sick}
i have been a little too busy this week.
but a good busy.
the type of busy where i throw my hair up in a pony,
put little {if any} makeup on,
grab my glasses and wear the first thing i see in my closet.
rehearsals for romeo and juliet have picked up,
my school load as seemed to doubled,
and racing to a from to teach piano has been crazy.
however, i think knowing spring break is just around the corner
has given me motivation to plow through.
spring break starts tomorrow.
thank goodness.
i have grand plans of doing one thing:
relaxing.
{and reading a book or two of course}
i would ask what your plans for spring break are,
but i feel like everyone has already "been there and done that".
for some reason, california schools seem to be behind schedule.
it's odd. but i'm not complaining,
because a break is a break.
and we all need one no matter when it comes.
so the countdown has gone from days hours...
27 more hours until spring break.
what a lovely thought.

hump day.

hello hump day.
you've definitely been a big bump in my road today.
although, i'm now sliding down the backside of your bump.
my tests are over. done and done.
 thank heavens.
i feel like i can actually breathe again.
and i may even be five pounds lighter without my stress.
however, my brain still feels like it's swimming.

as for the rest of my wendnesday:
1. i am drooling over this hair do.
i've got a crush on messy braids with tons of volume right now.
2. i am searching for the perfect floral pant.
lovebird isn't crazy about them, and has even made fun of them.
so i must find a lovely pair. and one that he approves of.
you know best. which ones are you eyeing?
3. i'm jumping for joy. because technically my weekend starts today.
no school friday! hip hip hooray!
4. i'm getting ready for a little performance tomorrow.
watch this sneak peak.
5. i'm craving broccoli.
oh wait, that's every day lately. weird, right?

happy hump day.

book worm.

good morning.
unfortunately, i'm in study lockdown.
lovebird has forbidden me to blog
until after i take my {dreadful} test tomorrow.
i'm sneaking in a little post
{he's still asleep}
to tell you that i'll be back soon.
i can't wait to catch up on your cute blogs.
until then, i'll be studying way too many terms,
pulling my hair out, biting my nails and feeling overwhelmed.
wish me luck.
two tests and a dance performance tomorrow,
then i'm home free.
oh, and i'll be free of study lockdown.
lovebird will then approve of me wasting spending my time blogging.

attracted to you.

fun and interesting fact of the day:
{and surprisingly, i learned this in my anthro class}

universally, what are the top two traits we {as humans} are attracted to?
any guesses out there before i tell you the answers?
number one: clear skin.
number two: youth.

clear skin:
are you surprised clear skin is number one?
i was... until i ended up thinking about this long and hard all day.
personally, the one thing i obsess over daily, is having clear skin.
eyes are pretty with or without makeup, hair can be thrown up into a ponytail and look gorgeous,
fashionable clothes can make you look like million bucks and perfume adds the final touch...
 however, if you have a blemish on your face- you feel completely self conscious.
not to mention you feel like you are going through puberty all over again.
or you feel like when people talk to you- all they look at is that stinkin' blemish.
universally, clear skin is a sign of health.
interesting, right? but completely accurate.

p.s. think about it- how many products are out there advertising clean and beautiful skin?
foundation, powder, face wash, body wash, self tanners, lotion and the list goes on and on....

youth:
this one is a bit strange to me.
i understand why. but i'm shocked it ranked number two on the list.
youth meaning.... the average human naturally desires to look, be and feel young.
you'd have to agree with that, right? and also-
universally, most men look to "mate" with younger women.
pretty accurate. {except for those "cougars" out there}.

what is number one and two on your list?
 remember, this is just the universe's list.
i'm curious to hear what you think about these two being ranked highest.

photo: inspiration to this post.
it was a perfect find after the lecture in anthro class.
she is simply beautiful. her skin is flawless.
and i'm slightly obsessing over her bun and long eyelashes.

scoop of love and laughter.

last night when the words of my textbook started blurring together into one big word, i decided it was time for a break. a break from school and life.
i was in desperate need of a break full of nothing but giggles, love and time with lovebird.
so, i yelled into the office where he so obediently was doing his homework....
"hey, i need you to come here".
"no you don't."
{he obviously knows me way too well. crap.}
"no, i seriously do. i need your help on my homework".
{all lies, i tell you.}
"lease, i'll kill you if you're lying."
.....
he killed me alright; killed me with tickles and kisses.
we laid on the ground for a good two hours.
we stayed up way past our bed time doing nothing but chitchatting.
and listening to spotify. the new best thing since sliced bread.
{it's a real treat to find all the oldies you listed to back in the day... all for free.}
my head was propped over his as we sang "we are young". glee version, duh.
i can't describe how funny it was to lip-sync and do actions face to face. noses touching.
lovebird told me i looked like a muppet when i sang. that was nice of him.
we were laughing so hard we were both crying and my abs felt like a million bucks.
after we were sick to our stomachs from laughter, we decided we needed to feed them with our new favorite addiction: pistachio for him, caramel for me.
it was a good night at home.
nothing beats time with lovebird doing absolutely nothing-
because it's these moments that make up our everything.
i'll hit the books later, right?
this was well worth my time. anthropology can always wait.
after all- love and gelato will always come first.

weekend of pictures.

the weekend went a little like this:
1. first day of spring semester.
{loving it already. i can tell it's going to be a good semester}
2. went to dinner with friends both thursday and friday night.
{i was oh-so-jealous of leonard's milkshake.}
3. worked on 'decorations' for crew's farewell.
{i'm already getting teary eyed just thinking about him leaving in one month from today.}
4. we gave kramer a bath and cleaned his tank.
{he is one happy pet now. still our favorite fish. going on 9 months now.}
5. let the fun begin. aka: homework.
{lovebird's sunday's consist of nothing but doing homework, eating dinner, and kissing me in between.}
6. we got a "valentine's" package from midge. a handmade quilt was inside.
{isn't my mother simply the best? wow.}
7. our little package inspired me to pull out some decorations for v-day.
{need a fun, cute and cheap decoration? fill a vase with heart marshmallows!}
8. dancing in the sunshine after saturday's class.
{as much as i dread going to dance on saturday's, they always seem to be the most fun.}

happy weekend. xoxo.

a few little things:

things from this week include:
1. wearing cozy sweaters to study for finals in.
why not be comfy when you are stressing out?
2. mailing out our christmas cards.
yes, we did send one to the president of the united states.
why not? everyone can use some holiday cheer.
3. a day off {monday} included a lunch date to greens with lovebird.
greens: an organic market with delicious food and treats, of course.
4. flowers from my nutcracker performances.
my house smells delicious and they make me smile as i'm reminded of how much i love to dance.
those are just a few of my favorite things right now.
hope you are all having lovely weeks.
i'd love to hear your favorites from the week.
xoxo

school days

lovebird's school is gorgeous.
my school has geese.
lovebird's school looks like it belongs in england.
{red brick buildings, old, cobblestone walkways, small campus.}
my campus is wide, covers space and looks just like a california university.
lovebird's school is expensive and private.
my school is is public and decently populated.
lovebird's school is 45 minutes away from home via highway 99.
mine is 30 minutes away via country roads.
lovebird is taking four classes.
i'm taking two.
we both love school.
and i've decided we will want our future little ones to know about
our schooling days... so that's what inspired this little post.

Sunday, October 30, 2011

field trip.

yesterday i went on a field trip for my geology class.
an all day field trip, mind you.
we went to four different locations to study
earthquakes and oceanology.
{a winery, the beach, a park, and a california mission}
so fascinating.
i'm a nerd when it comes to learning.
it was a wonderful trip:
minus the garlic fries, bus ride back home and the line for the bathroom.
hope you had an educational weekend as well.
i'm guessing you went to some halloween parties, as did i.
it certainly was a busy weekend.
enjoy your sunday at home, and
happy halloween eve.

Thursday, October 13, 2011

hats off to being busy.

happy thursday friends.
wanna know what happens when life is too busy and stressful?
it results in me wearing a hat and no makeup to school.
a girls got to do what a girls got to do. right?
then again, on the contrary, i never have understood the girls who wear
heels, skimpy clothes and loads of makeup to school.
after all, we are trekking across campus and sitting in classrooms all day long.
we aren't at a club, going out on the town or at a fashion show, which i'm convinced
half of the girls at school think we are.
then again, i'm {thankfully} married and not trying to impress anyone,
so that could be my lack of going overboard on the whole getting ready thing.
who knows.
what i do know- is that i'm stressed, happy, busy and wearing a hat.

this weekend we are performing swan lake.
you should come! click here and here for info.
swan lake is consuming my every minute right now,
so you can imagine the anticipation for next week....
we get the whole week off! {this never happens}
it's well needed and well deserved, i believe.
best part about the week off?
i'll actually get to see my husband.
and of course i'll be baking pumpkin chocolate chippers, blogging, relaxing, cooking
creating crafts and brainstorming my halloween costume.

i can't wait.
